In Montpelier, the question isn't can we find a good restaurant for dining, the question is where would you like to eat. With over forty restuarants and night spots among the few blocks in the downtown district you may peruse a considerable ensemble of establishments before situating yourself in the setting of your choice.

From a steakhouse voted Best Steakhouse, Best Seafood, Best Sunday Bruch by Times Argus- that is, J. Morgan's Steakhouse, to the acclaimed authentic Italian restaurant Sarducci's, along with the traditional thai at Royal Orchid, as well as a number of nooks where one can find a unique and delightful graze, don't expect to be disappointed when venturing to the city for an evening meal.

For midday or evening respite there are a myriad of restaurants serving a variety of foods including Vermont favorites, American Chinese, New York style pizza and even authentic Indian cuisine, as is the case with Namaste Indian Nepal Kitchen and Ksherpa Dinner House.

The environmentally conscious might certainly enjoy The Skinny Pancake, a restaurant that is a member of the Vermont Green Restaurant Program as a result of recycling nad redistribution programs to food shelves and other initiatives, along with a great menu.

Are you health conscious? Well, you'll enjoy Enna, that serves breakfast and lunch with an international flair and a focus on healthy, fresh and locally sources inclusions.

If you're interested in gourmet pizza amid an antique visage try Penzo Pizza at The Inn at Montpelier, or, if you prefer the more modern, novelle cuisine style pizza and calzone, Woodbelly Pizza on Barre Street.

Julio's Cantina is a local favorite that serves a combination of Mexican and traditional American "comfort food" day and night. There you may order up a Chimichanga, Echilada, or Cobb Salad with a burger and fries. In a hurry and need authentic Mexican cuisine? Visit Arandas, also on State Street, for ready made burritos, tacos, and tapas while filling the gas tank and picking a coffee to go.

And, there's more. The state's capitol is rightfully touted as a mecca of cuisine from around the world. If we can't get to Thailand, at least we can go to Willawan's Kitchen or Pho Capital.

 

The Hottest Clubs in Town

A focal point of entertainment, local talent and nightlife, Montpelier is the place to visit for an evening out.

Three Penny Taproom is a favorite with a long bar, beer on tap and menu.

Positive Pie serves up a great menu and often has live entertainment from 10pm to midnight.

The Barr Hill Distillery at Caledonia Spirits serves their own gin, vodka, and other libations while hosting local talent.

For the classic country bar hosting local rock and blues artists, as well as Tuesday night karaoke, don't miss Charlie-O's World Famous on Main. Bent Nails Bistro presents local talent and DJ's, and a select menu.

Finally, for jazz, Hugo's Bar & Grill hosts weekly jazz and ecclectic artists, as an accoutrement to their gourmet American comfort food.
